Glick has lived in Greenwich Village for over 40 years, and is running for her 14th term in the Assembly.

Glick voted earlier on Tuesday at a Tribeca polling site with fellow politicians, State Senator Brad Hoylman and State Senator Brian Kavanagh.

The longtime assembly member lists supporting small businesses and the importance of historic districts as two of her most important issues on her website.

"These local businesses add visual interest to our streetscapes and provide the kind of individually-tailored services that help neighbors connect to one another," Glick wrote on her website.

"Every time an independent pharmacy, neighborhood supermarket or mini-market, cobbler or dry cleaner is replaced by a franchise drug store, chain coffee shop or high-end clothing boutique, a bit of our neighborhood's character is lost."

On the other side of the ballot, Lashchyk worked on Wall Street for over 25 years, and is a longtime resident of SoHo. She currently works as a career coach.

"As a moderate Republican, I find more in common with moderate Democrats than with the right wing of my own party," Lashchyk told The Ukrainian Weekly. "Although I lean right, my views are diverse, and on certain issues, particularly social ones, they lean left."

Glick is the Chair of the Assembly's Higher Education Committee, and she also serves on the Ways and Means, Rules, Governmental Operations and Environmental Conservation committees.

Neither Glick nor Lashchyk responded to Patch's candidate survey.
