Greenwich Village Vegan Restaurant Shuttering After 25 Years

Sacred Chow, a community favorite eatery, announced its closure on Wednesday after more than two decades in Lower Manhattan.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — The vegan restaurant Sacred Chow is joining a growing list of Lower Manhattan eateries forced to shutter their doors due to coronavirus-related losses.

The 227 Sullivan Street joint has served neighborhood locals tasty vegan cuisine in Greenwich Village for 25 years.

Sacred Chow announced it would be closing down operations on Monday in an Instagram post.

The long-time Greenwich Village eatery originally opened on Hudson Street in 1995, before moving to its Sullivan Street location 10 years later, according to the BoweryBoogie.

Sacred Chow's shuttering comes less than two weeks after closure announcements from the popular Greenwich Village cocktail bar Existing Conditions and the Mermaid Inn's neighborhood location, which operated for 17 years.
