Guardian Angels' Curtis Sliwa Breaks Jaw Fighting Looters: Report
The civilian crime-fighters faced off with looters at a Foot Locker in SoHo on Tuesday night, according to reports.
SOHO, MANHATTAN — Guardian Angels' founder Curtis Sliwa broke his jaw Tuesday when fending off looters in SoHo, according to reports.
The crime-fighting red berets told Fox News that they battled more than 100 looters at a Foot Locker.
Sliwa and his crew had rushed to the store and got a few men to drop their stolen goods, but the looters returned two hours later, with back-up, according to the New York Post.

“I got hit,” Sliwa told Fox News.“But we don’t back down, and we don’t surrender or retreat. We don’t have guns or weapons, but we all have martial arts training, and we do get physical if we have to.”

Sliwa said the looters were armed with hammers, lock cutters and baseball bats.
"We were slamming and jamming quite a few of them," he said. "They were throwing glass bottles filled with liquids, as well as bricks and rocks. It was quite the battle.”
The fight landed him and another Guardian Angel, Aram Sabet, at Bellevue Hospital, Sliwa with a fractured jaw and Sabet with a broken eye socket and broken nose. Sabet was given 48 stitches, the Post reported.
The encounter came as looters taking advantage of the George Floyd protests across the city hit businesses throughout Manhattan for the third night in a row.The widespread looting, much of it at high-end SoHo stores, led Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo to put an 11 p.m., now 8 p.m., curfew on New York City.
Police said Wednesday that the 8 p.m. curfew had seemed to quell much of the looting, though smashed windows and break ins still ravaged many Midtown and Downtown Manhattan businesses.
