New Neighborhood Market Set To Open In The West Village

NEW YORK CITY — Chef Austin Johnson and restaurateur Eytan Sugarman’s Hudson Street Hospitality are set to open H. Valley, a new chef-driven neighborhood market at 569 Hudson Street in the West Village.

The market, set to open Sept. 23, combines chef-prepared foods with locally and seasonally sourced groceries and provisions, offering breakfast, lunch, take-home meals and everyday pantry items.

Johnson, formerly of Michelin-starred One White Street and Rigor Hill Market, drew on his experience working with Hudson Valley farms to develop the concept. H. Valley offers coffee, matcha, breads and pastries, breakfast sandwiches, weekend omelettes, hot and cold sandwiches, prepared meals, ready-to-cook proteins, fresh produce, housemade sauces and other groceries.

The market sources produce from regional farms including Campo Rosso Farm, Norwich Meadows Farm, Eckerton Hill Farm and Migliorelli Farm.

Its ready-to-cook offerings include ribeye, salmon, sesame tuna steaks and crispy duck leg, while refrigerated and frozen sections feature pasta sauces, soups, fresh and frozen pastas, lasagna, pizza and other provisions.

The market also offers a line of dog food made with Hudson Valley brook trout, Bell & Evans chicken and Long Island duck breast.

Designed by Johnson’s wife, Amanda Johnson, the 24-seat space features antiques sourced across the Northeast and a dedicated children’s area called “Lucky’s Corner.” H. Valley will also host a Friday farmers market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., along with future culinary events, chef collaborations and pop-ups.

The market will initially open Wednesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with plans to expand to seven days a week.
