1 Person Dies When LIRR Train Hits Vehicle Near Speonk: MTA
The crash took place at about 6:30 p.m., police say.
WESTHAMPTON, NY — One person died after a Long Island Rail Road train struck a vehicle on the tracks west of Speonk Monday night, MTA Police said.
According to police, the 4:30 p.m. train from Hunterspoint Ave. to Montauk was delayed west of Speonk after it struck a vehicle on the tracks at the South Bay Ave. crossing at about 6:25 p.m.
Emergency personnel was at the scene with more units on the way, police said.
