106th Rescue Wing Group Dedicated To Families Wins Award
The group was given "The Heart of the Community Award" for helping families in need.

WESTHAMPTON, NY— A group dedicated to the 106th Rescue Wing and their families in Westhampton recently received an award for dedication.
The "Heart of the Community Award" was presented to the 106th Rescue Wing's Family Readiness Group Private Organization, a not-for-profit group created for the purpose of developing and sustaining an effective family program that provides social interaction and education for members and their families of the 106 Rescue Wing Air National Guard.
The Jaspan Schlesinger Heart of Community Awards are being distributed as part of the law firm’s 75th anniversary celebration, donating to 75 local non-for-profits, the firm said.

According to the law firm, it was through preparing for her husband’s overseas deployment in 2019 and learning about the services, programs and support offered by the 106 Family Readiness Group at the 106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton that Sophia Perna-Plank, president of the group, learned about 106 RQW FRG PO, Inc.
"During her husband’s 2019-2020 deployment, Ms. Perna-Plank organized a food drive and winter coat, hat and glove drive to benefit Long Island veterans and 106th Rescue Wing members and families in need," a release said. "Since then, she stays abreast of the support and programs offered by the 106 Family Readiness Group and 106 RQW FRG PO, Inc., and looks forward to future involvement. "
