WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — To mark Veterans Day on November 11, first graders at the Westhampton Beach Elementary School created a "Hall of Heroes" to honor those who made the greatest sacrifices.

The "Hall of Heroes" was set up in the school's main vestibule; students made colorful signs, noting the five branches of the military, and also, constructed a giant paper American flag.

All students in the school were then invited to contribute to the project by gluing photos of family members and friends who are veterans to paper stars displayed on the wall, the district said.
