WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A beloved member of the security staff at Westhampton Beach Elementary School was honored recently with the "Great Hurricane Award," district officials said.
The Westhampton Beach School District's Board of Education recently presented a Great Hurricane Award to Ron Gholson.
Gholson was honored for his dedication to the safety of students and staff within the district, officials said.
"We are incredibly proud to recognize Ron Gholson," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carolyn Probst. "His friendly nature and unwavering dedication create a welcoming and safe environment for everyone who walks through our doors. He goes above and beyond each day, building meaningful connections with students and staff."
Gholson has worked in the district for the past 31 years, officials said.
The Great Hurricane Award aims to honor staff throughout the year who make a difference every day within the school district.
"A hurricane is a storm of indomitable force, but more than that, here in Westhampton Beach, it stands for honor, hard work, dedication, loyalty and tradition," said Dr. Probst.
