WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — Student broadcasters at Westhampton Beach High School were honored recently for excellence.
Westhampton Beach High School’s broadcasting program, "The Hurricane Watch," took home two awards from this year’s BASH Awards, held at Hofstra University, district officials said.
The students earned first place in the Best Local Multimedia Reporting category for a winter surfing piece and third place in Best Arts, Culture and Entertainment Feature for a broadcast on a classically trained pianist, district officials added.
Sponsored by ABC-7 and Newsday, the BASH Awards celebrate the work of high school broadcast programs.
"The Westhampton Beach School District congratulates the Hurricane Watch crew on a job well done," district officials said.
