Man Accused Of Driving While Impaired By Drugs In East Quogue: Police

EAST QUOGUE, NY — An East Setauket man was arrested after he was found driving while impaired by drugs in East Quogue, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, on Friday at about 7:50 a.m., a driver was stopped by a Southampton Town police officer after being observed committing a traffic infraction on Old Country Road near Vail Avenue.

Upon investigation, the driver, Christopher Richford, 41, was found to be operating while impaired by drugs, police said.

Richford was arrested and transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for arrest processing; he was charged with first-degree operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, and multiple violations of the vehicle and traffic law, police said.
