Baymen Lose to Mt. Sinai

Coach says they didn't bring their 'A' game.

The Hampton Bays Baymen fell to the Mt. Sinai Mustangs on Oct. 16 at the homecoming game for Mt. Sinai.  With the final score 35-7, the Baymen stand at 3-3 in the league, and Mt Sinai stands at 5-1.

The first quarter ended with two touchdowns by Mt. Sinai; the first a 15 yard run by running back David Smokler, the second by running back Josh Morales.  Hampton Bays tried to make a comeback in the second quarter but they couldn't hold it together.  Mt. Sinai scored two touchdowns in the second quarter, making the score an uneasy 35-0.

After halftime, both teams struggled to score in the third quarter.  Hampton Bays' defense held their own against Mt. Sinai, preventing them from scoring.  They came together as a team in the fourth quarter with a touch down by quarterback Robbie King and an extra point kick by Josh Bard.  With the score now 35-7, time was unfortunately not on Hampton Bay's side.  Mt. Sinai ran the clock down and the game was ended with 20 seconds left, making the final score 35-7.

Head coach of the Baymen, Michael Oestreicher, shared his thoughts after the game: "We didn't bring our A game, it didn't feel like we really played.  We made mistakes we usually don't make…now we just have to regroup."  Hampton Bays is scheduled to play Mercy back at their home field on Saturday, October 23 at 1:30 pm for the Hampton Bays Homecoming.
