Blaze Breaks Out In Hampton Bays Boatyard: Fire Officials

Two large boats and a camper were fully engulfed in flames, officials say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A blaze broke out in the early morning hours at a boat yard in Hampton Bays Friday, officials said.

According to the Hampton Bays Fire Department, two large boats and a camper were found fully engulfed in flames at the boat yard, located off Foster Avenue.

"The firefighting crews of 7-5-2, 7-5-4 and 7-5-7 worked diligently to put out the multiple fires with limited mobility due to the close proximity of the boats," fire officials said.

The HBFD thanked the East Quogue Fire Department for standing by and covering the district and the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps for rehabbing firefighters throughout the operation.

The investigation was turned over to the Southampton Town fire marshal, officials said.
