The event was meant to open students' eyes to a new genres of books.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — Never judge a book by its cover —especially at Westhampton Beach Middle School, where critical literacy teacher Camille Pedersen presented "Blind Date with a Book" for her seventh grade students on Jan. 25.

Part of her Literacy Café project, the event was meant to introduce students to a variety of book genres. Students had the opportunity to read excerpts from books that Pedersen wrapped in plain brown paper.
