Blood Drive Coming Soon At Westhampton Beach Fire Department

WESTHAMPTON, NY — With the need for donations dire, the Westhampton Beach Fire Department will be hosting a blood drive.

The event is slated for the Sunset Avenue firehouse on Friday, June 17, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Donors must be at least 17, weigh at least 110 lbs., and be in good health. Donors 76 and older can continue to give blood if they meet all eligibility criteria and present a physician's letter allowing them to donate.

"The need for blood donations cannot be overstated. From organ transplants to heart surgeries, today’s advanced medical care relies on blood transfusions," the WHBFD said. "When one person donates a unit of blood, it can be separated into individual components to save multiple lives. Blood donors help meet the daily transfusion needs of cancer and surgery patients, accident and burn victims, newborns and mothers delivering babies, AIDS and sickle cell anemia patients, and many more."
