Car Fire Breaks Out In Westhampton Beach In Freezing Temps

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — A fire broke out in a vehicle at the Seafield Center in Westhampton Beach early Tuesday, fire officials said.

According to the Westhampton Beach Fire Department, a call came in about the car fire at 6:08 a.m.; First Assistant Chief Darryl Schunk was the first volunteer at the scene.

Shortly after an engine arrived and the firefighters were able to lay a hose and extinguish the fire within minutes despite temperatures hovering around 10 degrees, the fire department said.

The auto involved was destroyed — but no injuries were reported, fire officials said.

The fire marshal was called in to determine the cause of the fire, the Westhampton Beach Fire Department said.
