Car Slams Into Fence, Careens Over Pool In Crash: PD

A tow company "was assigned the daunting task of getting the car back over/around the pool," the fire department says.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A driver lost control of a vehicle and hit a mulch pile and fence before jettisoning over an in-ground pool and into another fence last week in Hampton Bays, fire officials said.

According to the Hampton Bays Fire Department, on May 24 the crash took place at 8:06 p.m., the driver in the single-car collision was able to self-extricate from the vehicle and was treated by members of the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Hampton Bays Fire Department Chief James Kappers was first on scene and had command and a crew secured the vehicle, officials said.. Fire police closed the road for a short period of time in order for the crews to operate safely.

The town fire marshal investigated, officials said.

"Rapid Recovery was assigned the daunting task of getting the car back over/around the pool," HBFD said.
