HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A cat who was left alone in an empty house after his family moved away, leaving him behind, desperately needs a new home.

According to the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, at 11 years old, "Sterling was found alone in a house after the people who lived there moved away — took everything — and left him behind."

A good Samaritan found the cat left alone in the house, they said.

"Now he sits in his cage with no hope," they said. "No senior should live like this — he doesn’t have years to be waiting."

Sterling, the SASF said, needs a new home to call his own. "Please open your heart today," they said.
