Dog Lost After Long Island Crash: Police

The dog was frightened after the crash and ran off into the woods, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Police are searching for a dog lost after a crash in Hampton Bays Friday morning.

According to Southampton Town police, the crash took place on Sunrise Highway near Exit 65 on the westbound side in Hampton Bays at 9:30 a.m.

One of those involved in the crash lost their dog when it became frightened and ran off into the woods, police said.

New York State Police, Southampton Town police and animal control officers combed through the woods on foot and utilized a drone to look for the small white Pomeranian, but the dog, Juva, was not found, authorities said.

Juva is not wearing a collar, police said.
