UPDATE: Police ID Man Who Died After Crashing Into Tree in Hampton Bays

Police have identified the victim as 33-year-old Julio Tocay, of Peconic.

A man was killed after crashing into a tree in Hampton Bays on Sunday night, police said.

Southampton Town Police, the Hampton Bays Fire Department, Hampton Bays Ambulance and the Flanders Fire Department responded to the accident on Flanders Road, west of Red Creek Road, at 7:50 p.m., police said.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the car, a Dodge Ram 1500 with Illinois registration, struck a tree off the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing and his identity is not known at this time, police said.
