Drunk Driver Crashes Into Tree: Police

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — An East Quogue man drove drunk and hit a tree in Hampton Bays, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, Richard W. Valentino, 26, was arrested on Tuesday at 10:53 p.m. on Bellows Pond Road after he crashed into the tree.

Upon investigation it was revealed that Valentino was intoxicated; he was arrested and transported to the Southampton Town Police headquarters for processing, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, second degree harassment, a violation, failure to maintain lane, a violation, and open alcohol in vehicle, a violation, police said.

Valentino was held for arraignment, police said.
