Elementary Students Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Important life lessons, learned early on this week by Westhampton Beach Elementary School kids.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — Children honored the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this week.

Westhampton Beach Elementary School students in Ms. Lorraine Portcelli’s class marked Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday by participating in a number of activities, according to the district.

Students read about the civil rights activist’s life and discussed positive character traits, including kindness and politeness, district officials said.

Next, they wrote about their own positive character traits and attached them to paper cutouts drawn in their own image, a release said.
