'Erratic' Driver Spotted In Hamptons, Charged With DWI: PD

Several calls came in after people saw the driver heading west through Southampton and Hampton Bays, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated Sunday night after several calls to authorities, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, the calls came in at 6:56 p.m. about a motorist driving in an "erratic" manner and headed west on County Road 39 in Southampton and Hampton Bays. A police officer found Israel A. Imbaquingo-Cantos, 29, stopped in the westbound shoulder lane with a flat tire, and determined that he was intoxicated, police said.

Imbaquingo-Cantos was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor; he was also issued summonses for traffic violations, police said. Imbaquingo-Cantos was processed at Southampton Town Police Headquarters and held for morning arraignment, police said.
