HIS STORY: Tom grew up in Middle Village and Rego Park, Queens where he attended Molloy High School and played basketball under the legendary “Coach Curran.” He then attended St. John’s and Queens College where he also played basketball.

At 23 years old he joined the N.Y. P. D. in 1981. In
1985 he was promoted to the elite Joint Terrorist Task Force. After retiring in 2001, Tom and his wife Colleen moved to East Quoque to raise their four children, Thomas now 19 years old, Michael 17, Brian 16 and Caroline 13.
In the fall of 2005 Tom opened up Tom McBrien’s Restaurant and Pub in Hampton Bays.

In late 2010 Tom was diagnosed with leukemia. On July 4th, after eight months of treatment and a bone marrow transplant, Tom lost his battle.
People have since been asking how they can help Colleen and the children. The best way to assist the family is to make an investment in the children’s future.
On Sunday, September 25, 2011 a fund raiser will be held at Tide Runners Restaurant, from 2 -8 pm.
The event will include Chinese and Silent Auction, 50/50, cash bar and a complimentary buffet.
