Fire Breaks Out In Hampton Bays Trailer

Firefighers knocked down the blaze quickly and no injuries were reported, officials say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Firefighters rushed to the scene of a blaze next to a home on Argonne Road West in Hampton Bays Wednesday,

According to the Hampton Bays Fire Department, the fire was reported at 3:20 p.m. Initial reports indicated that the fire had broken out in a detached garage close to the house, but it was ultimately determined to be a tow-behind trailer, fire officials said.

Hampton Bays Fire Chief James Kappers was first to arrive and had command of the scene, and 1st Assistant Chief Rick Nydegger ran operations to the rear of the structure, the fire department said.

"Engine crew of 7-5-1 made quick work knocking down the fire, as well as searching to make sure no one was inside," officials said.

No injuries were reported, according to the Hampton Bays Fire Department.
