Firefighters Knock Down Hampton Bays Dumpster Blaze

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A dumpster fire broke out in Hamptons Bays Saturday, officials said.

According to the Hampton Bays Fire Department, the fire broke out at 2:32 p.m. at a local boat yard off Newtown Road.

A crew stretched a line and knocked down the main body of fire; additional firefighters pulled through the debris to help the engine crew, giving them access to mop up the remainder of the fire, the fire department said.

The Hampton Bays Fire Department also congratulated Lt. Evan Cortese on responding to his first fire as an officer.
