Firefighters Respond to House Fire on Brushy Neck Lane in Westhampton

House fire believed to have been started near the garage of the Westhampton home.

Firefighters from the Westhampton Beach , Eastport and Quogue fire departments responded to a house fire on Brushy Neck Lane Westhampton early Monday morning, 27east reports.

Westhampton Beach Fire Department Chief John “Chip” Bancroft told 27east the alarm came in at about 2 a.m. and upon arrival, volunteers found the garage to the home engulfed by flames and dark smoke pouring from most of its windows.

The occupants had vacated the house a few hours before the fire began, so no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by Southampton Town fire marshals, but it appears to have started near the garage. A room above the garage, a nearby washroom and the front porch have all been damaged, according to 27east.

Westhampton Beach responded with two engines, a ladder truck and a pumper, Eastport provided a rapid intervention team, Quogue sent an engine and the East Moriches Fire Department was standing by at Westhampton Beach’s temporary headquarters on Seabreeze Avenue. The Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance also responded.
