Firefighters Respond To Sunrise Highway Rollover

The incident took place in Westhampton Beach Thursday, officials say.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — Firefighters rushed to the scene of a rollover on the Westhampton Beach exit ramp of Sunrise Highway Thursday, officials said.

According to the Westhampton Beach Fire Department, the incident took place at 7:30 a.m. Westhampton Beach Second Assistant Chief Larry Saccente was the first volunteer on scene, and reported a rolled-over SUV on the grass with the driver, who was the sole occupant, standing nearby.

The firefighters who arrived shortly thereafter stabilized the vehicle and then rolled it back onto its wheels so that it could later be towed, the WHBFD said.

In addition to Chief Saccente, Third Assistant Chief Jeff Wachenfeld and Chief Mauro DiBenedetto also responded; the department sent two engines and a rescue truck to the scene, officials said.

Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance also responded, as did the Southampton Town Police and New York State Troopers, the fire departmenr said.

No lanes of traffic were closed during the incident and no injuries were reported, officials said.
