Hampton Bays 4th Grader Wins Townwide Snowplow Naming Contest
She chose the name, "The Baymen," to represent her sense of school spirit and pride, the Hampton Bays Union Free School District says.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Spring may be in the air, but a fourth-grade student from Hampton Bays Elementary School won a contest to name a Southampton Town snowplow.
The town highway department's snowplow is now called "The Baymen," school officials said.
Winner Valerie Barrios’ name was selected from more than 400 entries by children townwide; the submissions were made during several town-sponsored events, officials said.

Barrios was proud to choose a name that represents her school, the district said.
On May 3, Hampton Bays students saw the plow decked out with its new name when Superintendent of Highways Charles McArdle drove it to the elementary school. McArdle also gave students a tour of the vehicle and explained how the snowplow works.
