Hampton Bays Firefighters Rescue Trapped Driver After Crash
The crash took place Thursday afternoon, officials say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Hampton Bays firefighters came to the rescue of a driver who was trapped in a vehicle Thursday after a crash, officials said.
According to the Hampton Bays Fire Department, a call came in at 1:30 p.m. about a heavy rescue with entrapment with a door that needed to be "popped" on West Montauk Highway in front of Villa Paul restaurant.
Hampton Bays Fire Chief James Kappers and Southampton Town Police were able to open the door to allow Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps paramedic to treat the driver, officials said.

Fire police were dispatched to assist in keeping traffic moving and the first responders safe due to the fact that it was in the middle lane, officials said.
