Hampton Bays High School Names 2022 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Both have amassed long lists of accomplishments during their high school careers.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Two of Hampton Bays High School's best and brightest have been named 2022 valedictorian and salutatorian.

Seniors Kristina Georges and Lily Simpson-Heavey have been named the Class of 2022 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

Georges and Simpson-Heavey have amassed numerous accomplishments throughout their high school careers — both are AP Scholars with Distinction, National Honor Society members, and the first in their school’s history to earn the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma, the district said.

Georges also participates in the school’s science research program, is captain of the winter track team and a member of the cross-country team, and performs with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and East End Youth Quartet.

She is a recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award, a three-time awardee in the Northwell Health Spark Challenge and a third-place designee of the East End Youth Quartet Sounds of the Season Award.

Georges plans to study chemical engineering in college.

Simpson-Heavey serves as president of the school’s student council, co-president of the science club and treasurer of the National Honor Society. She is also a scholar-athlete, a member of her school’s lacrosse team and a two-time recipient of the Northwell Health Spark Challenge Award.

She is also conducting her own research on cancer immunotherapy at the University of Pennsylvania and is a member of Operation International’s Team New York.

In the fall, Simpson-Heavey will be attending the University of Pennsylvania to study biology on a pre-med track.
