Hampton Bays High School Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian
The students have a long list of accomplishments.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Hampton Bays High School's Class of 2023 now has a valedictorian and salutatorian.
The district said that years of "an impressive and outstanding commitment to academics have paid off" for seniors Liam Sutton and Sofia Solano-Cruz, who have been named the Class of 2023 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.
Sutton and Solano-Cruz have amassed numerous accomplishments throughout their high school careers. Both are AP Scholars with Distinction and members of the National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society, the district said.

Sutton is also treasurer of his school’s FBLA, vice president of Interact Club, sits on the student council executive board, participates in peer leadership and peer tutor initiatives, and is a member of his school’s Key Club. He is also an athlete and runs both winter and spring track. Outside of school, he has participated in the RYLA Youth Leadership Conference. He will also graduate with an AP Capstone designation on his diploma, district officials added.
Sutton plans to study biology or math in college.

Solano-Cruz participates in her school’s science research program, is a member of the student council, Leo Club and Bienvenidos Club, and is a leader with the Friends and Faith Club. She is also an athlete and plays varsity softball. Outside of school, she is co-chair of the Southampton Town youth advisory committee and a member of the Southampton Town youth board, the district said.
In the fall, Solano-Cruz will be attending LIU Post to study secondary education to become an English teacher.
