Hampton Bays' Main Street Paving Project Set to Kick Off
The work is slated to begin April 4, weather permitting.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS, NY - After much anticipation, a re-paving project of Main Street, or Montauk Highway, iin Hampton Bays is slated to begin the week of April 4th, weather permitting, and could continue into the week of April 11, according to Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman.
The paving project will run through downtown Hampton Bays from Flanders Road on the west to Bittersweet just east of the King Kullen Shopping Center.
There will be no parking on Montauk Highway during the project. Merchants have already been told by the county to expect restrictions. Also, Suffolk County will post “no parking” signs along the length of the project area.

Contractors plan to do westbound work in the morning to lessen the impact on the eastbound morning commute. They also plan to do eastbound work in the afternoon to reduce delays west-bound during the afternoon commute.
Work will begin as early as 7 a.m., and poor weather conditions may impact the work schedule. Drivers should expect some delays.

"Main Street in Hampton Bays has been in need of repair for years. It is one of the town’s priorities in its commitment to help improve the downtown business district," said Schneiderman.
