Hampton Bays Man Dies In Memorial Day Motorcycle Crash: Police
The crash was one of 2 that left 2 dead in Suffolk County Monday, police say.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was killed in a Yaphank motorcycle crash Monday, police said.
David Acevedo, 32, was riding a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle north on Sills Road just before 5 p.m. when he went through a red light and struck a 2020 Mercedes-Benz SUV going west on Express Drive North, police said.
Acevedo was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the Mercedes, 47-year-old Eva Konopka, of Brooklyn, was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue with minor injuries.

A second deadly motorcycle crash happened at about 9:35 p.m. in Rocky Point.
A man was riding a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle south on Rocky Point Yaphank Road between Whiskey Road and Route 25A, when he lost control of the motorcycle, which left the roadway and struck a tree.

The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
