Hampton Bays Woman Charged With DWI After Hitting Parked Vehicle: PD

She also crashed into a rock, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A woman was arrested Friday and charged with driving while intoxicated after hitting a parked vehicle and then crashing into a rock in Hampton Bays, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, a call came in at 4:03 p.m. about an erratic driver heading north from the Ponquogue Bridge. A patrol officer saw Jaylen Rose, 25, of Hampton Bays, heading north on Ponquogue Ave. and driving on the shoulder of the road, police said.

The officer initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Church of St. Rosalie but Rose sped off, hitting a parked vehicle and then, continuing east on Montauk Highway before crashing into a rock on Bittersweet Ave., police said.

Rose was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI, operating a vehicle with .08 percent or more blood alcohol content, a misdemeanor, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor and violations, including speeding, failure to yield the right of way, failure to obey a police officer, and passing a red light, police said.
