Hampton Bays Woman Charged With Felony DWI After Driving While Intoxicated With Child, 2, In Vehicle: PD
She was arrested Wednesday, police say.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY —A Hampton Bays woman was arrested after driving while intoxicated with a child, 2, in her vehicle, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, on Wednesday at 5:18 p.m., an officer on patrol observed a 2023 Toyota traveling westbound on County Road 39 near North Road, speeding and failing to signal for a turn.
A traffic stop was conducted and further investigation done by officers at the scene revealed that Lina M. Lopez-Alvarez, 35, was operating while in an intoxicated condition with the two-year-old child in the vehicle, police said.

She was arrested at the scene and then transported to police headquarters for processing, police said.
Lopez-Alvarez was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a felony under Leandra's Law; endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor; and several traffic infractions, police said.

She was held overnight for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
