Heroic 106th Rescue Wing Set To Help During Hurricane Michael

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — The heroes of Westhampton Beach's Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing are once again headed to help those faced with harrowing circumstances.

A Facebook post by the 106th Rescue Wing depicts its "world class maintainer" getting ready to fold an HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter, which will be placed on board a C-17 Globemaster for transport.

"These Guard airmen are assigned to the New York Air National Guard," the 106th said, adding that 75 members will deploy in support of the Hurricane Michael rescue efforts staging out of Gulfport, Mississippi to start.

The 106th Rescue Wing Task Force will include para-rescue, aircrew, maintainers and support, along with HC-130 and HH-60 aircraft and rescue boats, the post said.
