Residents for a Free Westhampton Free Library

If you believe in the American right to vote, please sign the petition at www.wflelectedboard.org. (Click title to read more.)

The Westhampton Free Library is a taxpayer-funded institution with an unelected, appointed board of trustees.

Taxpayers have been calling for an elected board since August 2015. In October 2015, three new trustees were personally appointed by the three trustees that resigned. The new board did not establish themselves as an “interim” board, and the newly appointed board president went so far as to say, “I have serious reservations on moving to an elected board on something that has worked for over 100 years.”

13 of 19 Suffolk County association libraries have elected boards. The NYS Department of Education states that association libraries should have elected boards.
