Kids Say 'Thank You' With 2nd Annual Veterans Day Car Parade
Fourth graders wore patriotic colors and waved on the cars with pom-poms and American flags.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Even the smallest of children were able to say "thank you" in a big way to the nation's veterans this week.
Fourth-grade students at Hampton Bays Elementary School participated in the 2nd Annual Veterans Day car parade Wednesday. Decked out in patriotic colors and waving American flags and pom-poms, the children lined the school's traffic circle to cheer for the heroes.
All week, students were taught about Veterans Day and about the importance of showing respect and thanks; the kids visited the American Legion for real-life history lessons, and wrote songs, poems and essays.
