LI Man Threatened To Hurt Multiple People, Burn House Down: Police
The Hampton Bays man also hit someone and tried to attack police officers, authorities say.
HAMPTON BAYS, NY —A Hampton Bays man was arrested Sunday after he hit someone, tried to attack police officers, and threatened to hurt multiple people and burn down a house, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, a report came in at 3:34 p.m. about a physical dispute on East Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.
Yamit A. Hurtado, 44, was arrested and charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation, police said.

Hurtado verbally and physically harassed another person, threatening to hit them with a street sign stick before ultimately striking them, police said. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters where, during processing, he tried to attack officers, intentionally damaging property at police headquarters, police said.
Hurtado was additionally charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, for intentionally damaging the property at Southampton Town police headquarters, authorities said.

In addition, Hurtado was also charged with second-degree harassment, when, during the investigation, a female arrived at police headquarters to report that Hurtado had harassed her earlier in the day at a private residence in Hampton Bays, where he threatened to physically hurt multiple people and burn her house down, police said.
