Lindenhurst Middle School Students Become Firefighters for a Day

Students Take a Trip to the Lindenhurst Fire Department, Get Hands-on Lessons in Fighting Fires

A group of Lindenhurst Middle School students recently took a trip to the Lindenhurst Fire Department. The visit allowed the students to see first hand how these volunteers keep the community safe.

The Lindenhurst firefighters led students of a tour of their firehouse, where they were able to get up close and personal with the department’s fire trucks. The students also had the chance to try on some of the firefighting gear, and see how it is used in everyday firefighting work.

The visit helped the students build community connections and provided them with real-world insights in order to foster a sense of appreciation for the valuable services these local heroes provide. The experience was organized in part by Michael Degregorio, from the Lindenhurst security department.
