Male Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By Taxi: Police

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — An Eastport man was killed when he was hit by a taxi in Hampton Bays early Sunday morning, police said.

According to New York State Police, Richard Styles, 42, was struck on Sunrise Highway in the area of Exit 65, Route 24, at approximately 2:22 a.m. by the a driver from Sunset Taxi in a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria.

As the driver approached Exit 65, he suddenly saw a male pedestrian, later identified as Styles, standing in the roadway, police said; Styles was struck and taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where was later pronounced dead, police said.
