Man, 76, Steals $1.7K In Fishing Equipment From Hampton Bays Store: PD

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A man, 76, stole $1,700 worth of fishing gear from a Hampton Bays store recently, police said.

On Saturday, June 3, the owner of White Water Outfitters on Montauk Highway reported that a customer stole $1,700 worth of fishing equipment from the store, Southampton Town police said.

On Monday, Paul Novicki, 76, of Hamden, Connecticut, voluntarily turned himself in to detectives; he was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, police said.

He was released on a field appearance ticket for arraignment at a later date, police said.

The fishing gear was returned to White Water Outfitters, police said.
