Man Arrested After Fight Outside Hampton Bays Movie Theater: Police

The incident took place Tuesday night, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested after a fight outside the movie theater Tuesday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, about 6:41 pm., a 911 call came in about a fight outside the theater, located on W. Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. Angel Muniz-Godoy, 21, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation.

Muniz-Godoy was involved in a physical fight with someone; police saw him in the public parking lot acting in a "violent and tumultuous manner," impeding patrol officers from conducting an investigation and interviewing witnesses, authorities said. Muniz-Godoy then damaged a motor vehicle that was parked in the parking lot, police said.

Patrol officers tried to arrest Muniz-Godoy but he refused to be handcuffed, police said.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Southampton Town police headquarters for arrest processing and issued a desk appearance ticket to appear in Southampton Town justice court at a future date, police said.
