Man Arrested, Charged With DWAI After Hampton Bays Crash: Police

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man, 70, was arrested after a crash Tuesday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, at about 6:53 p.m. a 911 call came in about a crash with injuries involving a car and a motorcycle at E. Montauk Hwy and Newtown Road in Hampton Bays.

The man had been involved in the crash while driving his vehicle on E. Montauk Highway, police said. After further investigation, it was determined that he was operating a vehicle in an intoxicated condition, police said.

He was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol, a violation, police said. He was transported to Southampton Town Police Department headquarters for arrest processing and was released on a traffic summons to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court at a later date, police said.
