Man Asleep At Wheel Near LI Intersection Charged With Felony DWI: PD

He had 2 previous convictions, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated after he was found asleep at the wheel near an intersection, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place Thursday at 3:17 a.m. Roman Guinanzaca, 47, was found asleep at the wheel near East Tiana Road and Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, police said.

He was arrested, charged with felony DWI, two previous convictions; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor; circumventing an interlock device, a misdemeanor; and failure to obey a traffic control device, a violation of the New York State vehicle and traffic law, police said.

Guinanzaca was taken to Southampton Town police headquarters for arrest processing and was held to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court at morning arraignment, police said.
