Man Caught Driving Stolen Car In East Quogue After Knocking On Doors: Police

EAST QUOGUE, NY — A Bethpage man who was found to be driving a stolen car was arrested after he was reported to be knocking on doors in East Quogue, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place on Monday after authorities received a call in reference to a "suspicious subject" knocking on doors on Landing Lane in East Quogue.

An investigation revealed that Joseph Brogan, 36, had an outstanding bench warrant from Southampton Town Justice Court as well as multiple other jurisdictions, police said.

During the investigation it was further discovered that the vehicle Brogan was operating had been stolen and a police agency from another jurisdiction was in the process of completing the larceny report, police said.

Brogan was arrested on the outstanding warrant and also charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, police said.

He was processed at police headquarters and held for morning arraignment.
