Man Charged With DWI After Westhampton Crash: Police
He was arrested Monday night, police say.
WESTHAMPTON, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested Monday after he crashed into a utility pole while intoxicated in Westhampton, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 11:48 p.m. Selvin A. Hernandez, 33, who is without a known address, was driving south on County Road 31 near Wallen Street, police said.
Hernandez was involved in the single-car crash after he drove off the roadway and hit the utility pole on the shoulder of CR31 and Wallen St., police said.

After an investigation, Hernandez, who was found to be intoxicated, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and DWI by observation, a misdemeanor, police said.
He was taken to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing and held to appear in Southampton Town justice court at morning arraignment, police said.
