Man Charged With DWI Drove Off Road, Damaged Property, Left Scene: PD

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he drove off the road, damaged private property, and left the scene, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the single-car crash took place Saturday at 10:12 p.m. on Rampasture Road near Elder Avenue in Hampton Bays.

A patrol officer located the vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, in the area; the driver, Luis D. Pinto Morillo, 20, was arrested, transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing, and charged with misdemeanor DWI and leaving the scene without reporting, an infraction, police said.

He was held for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
