Man Charged With Felony DWI After Crashing Into Signs: Police

The crash took place on Montauk Highway Saturday, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Southampton man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing into signs in Hampton Bays Saturday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, Luis F. Perez Miguel, 24, was involved in a single-vehicle crash on East Montauk Highway near Gravel Hill Road. His vehicle left the roadway and hit a speed limit sign and a business sign, police said.

He was arrested and charged with felony DWI and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and issued a summons for moving from lane unsafely, police said.

Miguel was processed at Southampton Town Police headquarters and held for morning arraignment, police said.
