Man Charged With Felony DWI In Hampton Bays: Police

He was arrested Sunday, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY —A man was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated in Hampton Bays Sunday, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 2:42 a.m. when a driver was stopped following a traffic violation on Montauk Highway.

Upon further investigation it was determined that the driver of the vehicle, Wilfredo Martinez Garay, 53, of Shinnecock, operated his vehicle while intoxicated, police said.

He was arrested and transported to Southampton Town police headquarters, where he was held for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.

Martinez Garay was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated , previous conviction within 10 years, a felony; secon-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and a traffic violation, police said.
